Chennai, Sept. 3 -- Two workers were killed and five others, including four women, sustained injuries in two separate blasts at private cracker manufacturing units in the southern Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday, even as Chief Minister Vijay announced a solatium of Rs four lakh to the families of the deceased.
An official release said in the first incident, the blast occurred at a cracker unit after a fire broke out due to friction while handling chemicals at Anupamkulam village near Srivilliputtur in the district, killing one worker, while another suffered burns. and wasadmitted to Sivaganga government hospital.
The deceased worker was identified as Sakthivel (55) and the injured as Kaliraj (49).
