Shimla/Kinnaur, March 7 -- A devastating fire gutted two wooden houses in Hamete village of Nichar subdivision in Kinnaur district on Friday evening, destroying property worth lakhs of rupees.
The fire reportedly broke out around 7:30 pm in an old wooden house belonging to Hiten Negi and quickly spread through the structure, completely destroying eight rooms. The flames also reached a nearby newly constructed house, partially damaging its upper floor.
Villagers rushed to the spot and worked tirelessly to control the blaze. Due to the wooden structure of the houses, the fire spread rapidly, making it difficult to contain. However, their timely efforts prevented the new house from being completely destroyed.
