Sitapur, March 2 -- Two women were killed after being run over by a speeding car on Monday in the Machhrehta police station area of UP's Sitapur district.
The accident took place near Bharasaini Pulia on Jalalpur Road. According to local residents, Shalu (35), wife of Kaushal Pal and a native of Sataliya village, was working outside her house near Bharasaini Pulia, leveling soil over a pipeline laid under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme.
Eyewitnesses reported that a car traveling at a high speed from Jalalpur towards Machhrehta lost control when one of its wheels slipped off the asphalt road. The vehicle first struck Shalu and continued moving forward.
