Dharamshala, July 15 -- Kangra Police have arrested two women after recovering 2.57 grams of heroin (chitta) from their possession in Palampur, police said here on Wednesday.

Superintendent of Police, Kangra, Kulbhushan Verma told UNI that the recovery was made on Monday after Police Station Palampur acted on credible information. He said that a case has been registered under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

S P Verma said that the arrested women have been identified as Sandhya Devi (45), a resident of Vrindavan in Palampur, and Hema Kumari (30), a resident of Rakkar in Mandi district.

He said further investigation is underway and legal proceedings are being carried out in accordance with the law.
