Shimla, July 1 -- Shimla Police has solved a major jewellery theft case within three days by arresting two women from Punjab and recovering stolen gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 45-50 lakh.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Shimla, Mehar Panwar said that an FIR was registered at Sadar Police Station on June 25 on the complaint of Khub Singh Thakur, a resident of Shimla district.

"The complainant alleged that unidentified women had stolen valuable jewellery from his sling bag while he was shopping at Lower Bazaar in Shimla.

The stolen property included about 40 tolas of gold ornaments and nearly 250 grams of silver jewellery, collectively valued at approximately Rs 45-50 lakh," she said.
