Gadag (Karnataka), Aug. 22 -- A discrepancy in identity documents led to the detention of two suspected Bangladeshi nationals working as construction labourers at a residential school building site in Gadag district, exposing possible gaps in verification of migrant workers employed at construction projects.

The two men, identified as 26-year-old Sakrib and 22-year-old Dilwan Hussain, were detained by Gadag Rural Police during a verification at a construction site on the outskirts of Harati village in Gadag taluk.

The incident came to light after a local woman who approached the site seeking employment reportedly questioned why workers from outside the State were being engaged while local residents were not being given work.
