Panchkula, Aug. 2 -- A young man and a woman were killed after being hit by a train on a railway bridge over the Markanda river near Markanda Temple in Shahabad, Kurukshetra district, today.
Preliminary information states the victims were on the railway bridge when struck by a passing train. The impact threw them off the bridge, and their bodies fell into the Markanda river below. Both died on the spot.
The incident caused panic, with local residents gathering at the scene soon after.
Police officials said initial circumstances suggest possible suicide, but no official conclusion has been reached and all angles are being investigated.
