Siliguri, Sept. 7 -- The West Bengal Labour Department has advised all tea gardens in the Hills, Terai and Dooars regions of North Bengal to pay a 20 per cent bonus to workers for the financial year 2025-26 ahead of the Puja season.
In an advisory issued on Monday, Additional Labour Commissioner, North Bengal Zone, Amal Majumdar said the bonus would be paid at the rate of 20 per cent across all tea gardens in the region.
The advisory stated that employees otherwise rendered ineligible under the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965, due to their salary crossing the prescribed limit, would also be considered for bonus as if their salary had not exceeded the ceiling.
The ceiling for monthly-rated employees will remain unchanged from last year.
