Hyderabad, July 29 -- Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Wednesday welcomed the Supreme Court's verdict upholding environmental clearances for the state's irrigation projects, describing it as a major boost to Telangana's irrigation sector.

In a statement, the Minister said the verdict has paved the way for the implementation of the Seethamma Sagar project in Khammam district. He said the project will have a storage capacity of 36.37 TMC of water, provide irrigation to an ayacut of 6.74 lakh acres, and facilitate the generation of 282.80 MW of hydel power.
