Washington, July 21 -- The US has signalled its intent to carry on with its military campaign against Iran despite both sides continuing diplomatic exchanges over the Strait of Hormuz, with President Donald Trump vowing to avenge the death of each American soldier by a forceful response.
Trump said on Monday that he had instructed the Pentagon to retaliate decisively for every US soldier killed by Iran.
"Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over! This directive has been passed on to Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Daniel Caine, and every Leader in the Military," Trump wrote on Truth Social, without providing further details.
