Washington, Sept. 17 -- US President Donald Trump is expected to meet leaders and foreign ministers of the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in New York on September 22 on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss the next phase of the war with Iran, according to an Axios report citing three sources familiar with the plans.
The meeting is expected to focus on US proposals for a postwar strategy as Trump and his senior aides work on a plan for the period following the conflict. According to the sources, the broader strategy is expected to be finalised after the US midterm elections.
