Washington/Tehran, Aug. 18 -- US President Donald Trump once again suggested on Tuesday that the Strait of Hormuz should become US territory, posting a map on Truth Social showing the strategic waterway under the headline "NEW U.S. Territory".

The highlighted area included parts of the coastlines of Iran, Oman and the UAE. The post echoed a similar message from last week, when Trump wrote, "I THINK I WILL KEEP IT," in reference to the waterway, which he has repeatedly claimed is under US control. However, White House officials later said he was joking about declaring the strait US territory.
