Washington/Tehran, Aug. 20 -- US President Donald Trump announced that he would unleash a "crushing economic operation" against Iran, pledging "Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale", terming it as an "economic D-Day." Trump further said that any country providing Tehran with any form of economic lifeline would face severe consequences.
"ANY country that allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities to provide any type of lifeline to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences," Trump wrote on Truth Social, specifically warning against oil smuggling, swap lines, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries and front companies.
