Washington, Sept. 9 -- The Trump administration did not oppose a UK-led initiative to impose new sanctions on Israeli settlements in the West Bank, according to US officials and Western diplomats, signalling growing frustration in Washington with the Israeli government's policies in the territory.
The US did not attempt to block the UK initiative, which was backed by 11 other Western countries, even though Washington does not plan to adopt the same sanctions itself, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio making it clear that Washington won't be imposing any sanctions on Israel.
