Agartala, Feb. 27 -- The Tripura Council of Ministers has decided to implement the Centres's "Nari Adalat" scheme as a pilot project in 10 gram panchayats, said Cabinet spokesperson and Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury here on Friday.
The Nari Adalat scheme, which was initiated by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is designed to operate as a local arbitration forum at the panchayat level to address issues related to atrocities against women and to recommend necessary police intervention.
Each Nari Adalat will consist of a committee comprising up to nine members who are well-regarded in the community.
