Agartala, May 27 -- A significant counterfeit currency racket closely tied to an expanding narcotics network in Tripura's Khowai district was dismantled on Wednesday during a coordinated operation, and a school teacher was arrested for operating the racket.

Police detained one Kartik Debnath (42) of West Sonatala of Khowai, from Bagan Bazar under Kalyanpur Police Station area.

During preliminary checking, fake Indian currency notes amounting to Rs 7,600/- were recovered from his possession.

Later, police raided Kartik's residence of one Kartik Debnath (42) in Mahadebtilla, under Khowai Police Station, and recovered fake Indian currency notes amounting to Rs 13,400/- along with 57 SP Tablets were recovered and seized.
