Agartala, June 16 -- In a major milestone for Tripura's cultural heritage, the traditional Tripura Sarinda, an indigenous stringed musical instrument with deep roots in the state's folk traditions, has been awarded the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) status.

The announcement was made by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, who described this recognition as a source of immense pride for the state.
