Agartala, June 24 -- The Tripura government has suspended eight police officers, including the officers-in-Charge of East Agartala Police Station and East Agartala Women's Police Station, in response to a case involving allegations of custodial torture and non-registering FIR.
The decision follows a High Court observation and heightened judicial scrutiny prompted by claims of physical and psychological abuse faced by a Banamalipur resident and his family while in custody after refusing to comply with a bribe demand related to a building dispute.
