Agartala, June 24 -- In a policy move aimed at bolstering public healthcare in Tripura, the state Cabinet has barred doctors at GBP Hospital and Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) from engaging in private medical practice.
Cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury said that doctors employed at the premier government institutions will no longer be permitted to operate private clinics or offer consultations outside their official duties. To offset this restriction, the government will grant an additional 20 per cent of the basic salary to all the medical officers, faculties and consultants.
