Agartala, Sept. 10 -- Tension brewed in the Mandai area, about 25 kilometres from the city, after the opposition CPI-M alleged that unidentified miscreants fired shots at the house of one of its candidates late at night on Sept 8, followed by blocking both candidates and proposers from attending the nomination paper scrutiny on Wednesday.
Allegedly, the gunshots were fired at CPI-M candidate Dilip Debbarma's home in Charagarhia village, without resulting in any injuries. This incident followed allegations by the party of attacks and threats to candidates and proposers across the Mandai block area.
Village Committee elections under Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) are set to be held on Sept 28.
