Agartala, Aug. 11 -- A couple from Golmura in Tripura's Gomati district was sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The convicts were identified as Sahid Miah and Parbin Bibi, who were arrested in connection with a heroin seizure case registered under Sections 21(b) and 25 of the NDPS Act at Kakraban Police Station two years ago.
The Additional Sessions Judge of Gomati district sentenced each of them to five years' rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000. In default of payment, they will have to undergo an additional three months' rigorous imprisonment.
