Patna, Aug. 11 -- Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary Tuesday offered tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives while hoisting the tricolor at Patna Secretariat during the Quit India Movement on August 11 in 1942.
Addressing the gathering during the state ceremony organised in the Shaheed Smarak complex in Patna, Choudhary said that on 11 August 1942, during the Quit India Movement, British police opened fire on students who had set out to hoist the tricolor over the Patna Secretariat, in which seven young men were martyred. These seven martyrs were Umakant Prasad Singh, Ramanand Singh, Satish Prasad Jha, Jagpati Kumar, Devipad Choudhary, Rajendra Singh, and Ramgovind Singh.
