Ranchi, June 6 -- Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Saturday said development becomes meaningful only when the cultural identity and traditions of communities are preserved alongside progress.

Addressing the "Adi Varta - A Tribal Conclave" at Audrey House here, the Governor said Jharkhand's tribal traditions promote coexistence, social harmony and collective responsibility, and constitute a valuable part of the nation's cultural heritage.

He said education, healthcare, nutrition, skill development and economic empowerment were key to the progress of tribal communities, particularly in remote and inaccessible areas.
