New Delhi, July 29 -- Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said India will finalise the trade agreement with the US only if it secures a clear advantage for domestic exporters over competing nations.

He stressed that New Delhi is not working against any deadline and will not enter into an agreement unless it serves India's long-term economic interests.

He said every free trade agreement must create meaningful opportunities for Indian businesses, improve market access and enhance the country's competitiveness in overseas markets.

According to the minister, trade negotiations are guided by national interest rather than timelines.
