Ramgarh, June 13 -- Four persons died after allegedly inhaling toxic gases inside an abandoned coal mine in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district on Saturday, officials said.
The incident occurred in the Chapri-Bumri area under the Ramgarh forest range, where the victims had reportedly entered a closed mine for coal extraction.
According to officials, local residents alerted authorities after the men failed to return from the mine. Rescue teams comprising personnel from Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL), police and district administration later recovered them and shifted them to Ramgarh Sadar Hospital.
Hospital authorities said two victims were brought dead, while two others succumbed during treatment.
