Sydney, June 9 -- Chinese top seeds Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian advanced to the second round of the women's doubles with a dominant win on the opening day of the Australian Badminton Open here on Tuesday.
Jia and Zhang, the women's doubles champions at the Singapore Open in May, defeated Australian duo Sydney and Victoria Tjonadi 21-7, 21-5 in 22 minutes on Tuesday evening at Sydney's State Sports Centre.
They will be joined in the second round of the women's doubles draw by compatriots Wang Tingge and Luo Yi, who beat eighth seeds Yang Ching-Tun and Chang Ching-Hui of Chinese Taipei 21-14, 16-21, 21-17.
