Chennai, March 22 -- The CPI(M), a key ally of the ruling DMK-led Secular Progressve Alliance (SPA) on Sunday discussed the seat sharing issue with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin for the April 23 Asembly polls, but an agreement was yet to be reached.

The CPI(M), which had contested six seats as part of the DMK front in 2021 and won two, has initially demanded seat in double digits.

However, after hectic parleys and multiple round of discussions with the DMK's seat sharing panel and also after discussing the matter at the CPI(M) State executive, the Marxist party has scaled down its demand and expresed its desire to contest in six seats, the same number it had contested in the last elections.
