Chennai, May 16 -- In a major enforcement initiative aimed at protecting students and young people from falling prey to the drug menace, Tamil Nadu government has intensified surveillance and enhanced patrolling near schools, colleges and student hostels as part of a broader crackdown on drugs and liquor violations across the State.
Acting on the directions of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, the Commissionerate of Prohibition and Excise on Saturday instructed district-level officials to maintain strict monitoring of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) liquor outlets, licensedbars and other vulnerable locations linked to narcotics and illicit liquor trade.
