Chennai, May 21 -- The Tamil Nadu's emergency healthcare system has emerged stronger post-COVID, driving sharp gains in maternal and newborn outcomes, a research study by the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-Madras) revealed.

Releasing the study report, the IIT-Madras on Thursday said sustained investments in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and maternal healthcare, has not only offset the severe disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, but also led to significantly improved maternal and newborn health outcomes in Tamil Nadu during the post-pandemic period.
