Chennai, May 10 -- A couple of hours after being sworn in as 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, TVK Founder and actor-politician C Joseph Vijay on Sunday resigned his MLA post from Trichy East, one of the two seats, he won in the April 23 Assembly elections.

Vijay's letter tendering his resignation from the Trichy East seat, was handed to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan by Ministers KA Sengottaiyan and P Venkataramanan at the State Secretariat soon after occupying the CM's seat in his chamber.

By deciding to resign from Tiruchy East, from where he was elected, Vijay chose to retain the Permabur seat in Chennai city.

The Assembly secretariat was expected to soon notify the vacancy in Tiruchy east.
