Chennai, Aug. 28 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK Founder C Joseph Vijay on Friday moved the Madras High Court seeking to vacate the interim stay on holding by-elections to five Assembly seats, including Tiruchy East from where he won and later resigned by deciding to retain Perambur, the second seat won by him in the recent elections.

The interim stay was granted on a PIL filed by Venkatachalapathi of Palayamkottai seeking a ban on announcing bypolls to Tiruchy East, Karur, Viralimalai, Perundurai and Ambasamudram seats, citing pendency of election petitions regarding the five constituencies.
