Kolkata, March 7 -- The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has approached the Election Commission alleging serious irregularities in the nomination papers of BJP candidate Biswajit (Rahul) Sinha for the Rajya Sabha election from West Bengal.

State power minister Arup Biswas has submitted a detailed complaint to the Commission seeking intervention in the matter.

In the complaint, Biswas alleged that significant procedural lapses and inconsistencies were detected during the scrutiny of Sinha's nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha polls.

According to the letter, Sinha had submitted his mandatory affidavit (Form-26) along with the nomination papers on March 5.
