Kolkata, May 19 -- A series of arrests of Trinamool Congress leaders and persons allegedly close to the former ruling party from different parts of West Bengal over the past two days has triggered a fresh political storm in the state, with the TMC accusing the administration of carrying out a politically motivated crackdown.
From alleged extortion rackets and syndicate operations to assault, intimidation and even conspiracy to commit robbery, police have arrested a large number of local leaders and party functionaries in multiple districts.
