New Delhi, July 29 -- Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien on Wednesday claimed that his party's sustained campaign had succeeded after West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced the restoration of eggs in the state's midday meal programme for schoolchildren.

Welcoming the announcement, O'Brien said the decision came a month after the Trinamool Congress had opposed the reported removal of eggs from meals served under the scheme, maintaining that they were an essential source of nutrition for children.
