Kolkata, June 1 -- The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Monday expelled two of its legislators, Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandeepan Saha, on charges of engaging in activities against the party.
According to TMC sources, the decision was communicated to both MLAs via email and WhatsApp.
The party has also informed West Bengal Assembly Speaker Rathin Ghosh Basu about the action.
The expulsion came shortly after Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari addressed a press conference from Nabanna regarding the alleged Assembly signature forgery controversy.
Adhikari said that Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandeepan Saha had submitted written complaints to the Speaker, prompting the Assembly Secretariat to file a complaint with Hare Street Police Station.
