Kolkata, May 31 -- A crucial meeting of Trinamul Congress (TMC) legislators convened by party supremo Mamata Banerjee at her Kalighat residence on Sunday was postponed after only a small fraction of the party's MLAs turned up.

The development has triggered speculation in political circles about the state of affairs within the ruling party following its recent electoral setback.

The meeting, scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., was expected to bring together all 80 TMC MLAs. However, by late afternoon, only around 20 legislators had arrived at the venue, most of them senior leaders.

Among those present were Kunal Ghosh, Shovandeb Chattopadhyay, Firhad Hakim, Madan Mitra, Nayana Bandyopadhyay, Ashok Kumar Deb and Biman Banerjee. Sources said Bane...
