Kolkata, May 29 -- Alleging a "direct assault" on the fourth pillar of democracy, West Bengal's opposition Trinamool Congress and Congress on Friday launched a sharp attack on the BJP government over alleged curbs on journalists' access inside the Assembly premises.
In a strongly worded statement posted on X, the erstwhile ruling party accused the BJP of attempting to suppress the voices of journalists who question those in power. The Trinamool Congress alleged that journalists across the country are increasingly being targeted for raising uncomfortable questions before the ruling establishment.
