Patna, April 7 -- Reiterating the government's commitment, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Tuesday said that providing timely assistance to disaster victims remains a top priority.
Chairing the 13th meeting of the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority, Kumar said here that since the formation of the new government on November 24, 2005, Bihar has taken several significant steps to strengthen disaster management. He noted that standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been developed for effective handling of disasters such as floods, droughts, fires, earthquakes, and heatwaves.
