Kolkata, March 13 -- Extensive security arrangements have been put in place in and around the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public rally scheduled for Saturday.
While the Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified preparations for the event, Kolkata Police is simultaneously strengthening security across the Maidan and adjoining areas.
According to police sources, around 3,000 personnel of Kolkata Police will be deployed for the Prime Minister's visit.
The overall responsibility for security during the programme will be handled by ADG (Coastal) Harikishore Kusumakar.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport by flight from Assam on Saturday.
