Nagpur, July 13 -- : A man and his seven-year-old son drowned while trying to save their lives out of fear of a tiger in the Deolapar forest area of Ramtek tehsil in Maharashtra's Nagpur district, officials said on Monday.

According to forest department officials, the deceased were identified as 35-year-old Jeevan Dharmaraj Kokode and his seven-year-old son Jatin Jeevan Kokode, residents of Dulara village.

As per preliminary information, Jeevan had gone fishing at Lakhan Dam near Chhawari village along with his son and brother-in-law on Sunday morning.

During this time, his brother-in-law spotted a tiger moving rapidly towards them and tried to alert them by raising an alarm.
