Kolkata, June 3 -- After days of intense heat and oppressive humidity, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday forecast a significant change in weather conditions across West Bengal, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds likely to affect several districts over the next few days.
According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, a strong cyclonic circulation over the northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal is drawing large amounts of moisture into the state. The system is expected to create favourable conditions for widespread rain and thunderstorm activity in both north and south Bengal till June 5.
