Thrissur, April 27 -- It was a poignant scene at the Vadakkunnathan temple premises today when the two Thiruvambadi and Paramekkavu temple deities, placed atop caparisoned elephants, said "goodbye" to thousands of devotees, assuring to meet again next year for the Thrissur Pooram.

Thousands of Pooram lovers who witnessed the scene of the two elephants raising their tusks just in front of the Vadakkunnathan to say goodbye had to control their emotions as it was their pooram.

Thus the 30-hour long Pooram, which began on Sunday morning, concluded this noon, showcasing the best percussion ensembles and caparisoned elephants and exchange of colourful parasols.
