New Delhi, Sept. 27 -- Three years after an Asian Games medal was taken away from her, Parveen Hooda has earned another one the only way she could - inside the ring.
The Indian boxer secured at least a bronze on Sunday with a commanding 5-0 win over Uzbekistan's Navbakhor Khamidova in the women's 65kg quarterfinals, completing a remarkable return to the Asian Games podium in Aichi-Nagoya.
Parveen had won bronze at Hangzhou in 2023, but the medal was later stripped after she was handed a suspension for whereabouts failures between April 2022 and March 2023. The setback came just as the medal had appeared to put her on course for bigger ambitions, including the Olympics.
