Bhubaneshwar, May 5 -- At least three workers of a sponge iron plant in Odisha's Angul district died after coming in contact with toxic gaseous substances at the plant site, police said on Tuesday.
The mishap occurred yesterday evening hours at Shree Metallic sponge iron factory located within the Nisha industrial police station area. The mishap has brought to fore poor workplace safety standards in industrial units in Odisha.
Three workers, who hailed from Sundargarh district, were received dead at Hindol sub divisional hospital in neighbouring Dhenkanal district after at least five hours after the plant accident.
