Agartala, Aug. 20 -- Three minor girls were reportedly rescued from the Rajnagar area of Anandabazar in North Tripura last night after allegedly being taken from Bagbassa.
A young man, identified as Sohel Uddin from Betangi of Dharmanagar, was detained on the charge of stealing the girls. However, details of the events have not yet come out. Interrogation of the victims and the accused is underway, said police here on Thursday.
Locals reportedly intercepted Uddin around 11 PM while he was allegedly attempting to take the girls away from a locality.
The villagers handed him over to the police at the Anandabazar naka point. Both the girls and the detained youth were subsequently taken to the Dharmanagar Women Police Station.
