Mumbai, Sept. 9 -- The investigation into the threat call received by a Mumbai businessman from a Pakistan-based number has widened, with the Mumbai Crime Branch probing the alleged terror links of the family members of arrested accused Mohammad Sharif.
Sources said Sharif's father and one of his brothers, who are residing in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), are being investigated for their alleged links with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), while another brother is suspected of having links with Hizbul Mujahideen.
The Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Mumbai Crime Branch is probing whether Sharif was in contact with his family members in PoK and whether he had received any instructions or assignments from them.
