Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 12 -- Tens of thousands of people offered 'Bali' to propitiate their forefathers on the occasion of 'Karkidaka Vavu' at various temple ghats and beaches across Kerala on Wednesday.
In memory of their departed ancestors, devotees traditionally perform 'Karkidaka Vavu Bali' at riverbanks, beaches and temple ghats.
'Vavu Bali', or 'Karkidaka Vavu Bali', is a ritual dedicated to deceased ancestors performed by Hindus in Kerala during Karkidakam, the last month of the Malayalam calendar.
It is an important Hindu religious observance performed in honour of forefathers in Kerala and other parts of South India.
