Mumbai, July 15 -- The makers of the upcoming Punjabi period drama "Ishqnama", starring Shehnaaz Gill and Jay Randhawa, have released the film's trailer, introducing an epic love story set against the emotionally charged backdrop of the India-Pakistan border.
Helmed by Arvinder S. Khaira, the film is inspired by the acclaimed book "Hind Pak Bordernama" and based on the true story of Nimma and Naseema, "Ishqnama" takes place between 1981 and 1988 in the Punjab region along the India-Pakistan border.
The film depicts the love of Nimma, a young Indian Sikh poet, and Naseema, a Muslim woman from Pakistani Punjab, as they survive the wounds of Partition and the restrictions of borders.
