Bijnor/Lucknow, April 6 -- A terror sleeper cell operating in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh has come under the scanner of the state's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), which is now working to dismantle a larger network allegedly controlled by handlers based in Pakistan and Dubai.
According to officials, preliminary investigations indicate that the module was being remotely operated through encrypted platforms, with instructions flowing from suspected Pakistani handlers and a Dubai-based operative identified as Aqib.
The agencies believe that small, localized sleeper cells were being created as part of a broader strategy to carry out disruptive activities.
