Siliguri, June 29 -- Flooding in large parts of Matigara block, triggered by incessant rainfall on Sunday, has eased after the administration created a temporary drainage channel to release stagnant water into the Balason River, West Bengal Minister for Finance and Transport, Anandamay Barman, said.

According to the minister, the primary reason behind the inundation was the incomplete drainage system along Asian Highway-2 (AH-2), constructed without adequate provision for the area's natural water flow.
